The Best Green Beauty Brands at Target
I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love Target! They offer aesthetically pleasing merchandise and it’s incredibly convenient to get what you need at your local Target store. Not to mention, Target is bringing in more and more eco-friendly brands. As green beauty continues to grow, it’s important to know which brands you can trust, and which brands are green-washers.
After some research and figuring out who owns who, and who claims they use clean ingredients but don’t, this list contains the best green beauty to shop for. At the bottom of this post I list “supposed natural” brands at Target I do not purchase and why.

I DO NOT BUY & WHY
Hain Celestial owns ALBA BOTANICA, JASON, AVALON ORGANICS, and although Hain Celestial is a company that believes in better, healthier products, these brands contain way too many questionable ingredients even though they claim to be clean, natural, and organic. For example, JASON contains ingredients such as Oxybenzone, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Octinoxate) among others that rate very high hazard across many databases.
Unilever owns SHEA MOISTURE, SCHMIDTS DEODORANT, and LOVE BEAUTY & PLANET. Unilever also owns Dove, Axe, Sunsilk, Tresemme, and many more brands that have the complete opposite morals and values that these brands supposedly stand by. Unilever also claims to be 100% cruelty-free but in a recent
The Clorox Company owns BURT’S BEES.
Colgate Palmolive owns TOM’S OF MAINE.
PIXI BEAUTY, RAW SUGAR LIVING, and PHYSICIANS FORMULA sell themselves as healthy cosmetic companies but contain harsh ingredients. These are what I would consider “green-washers.” For example, many products from PHYSICIANS FORMULA contain parabens, talc, and many other hazardous ingredients.
I prefer to support independent brands that stay true to themselves, don’t sell out to the big guys, and find their own successes while not compromising their ingredients and values. 🙂
Just a friendly reminder, please recycle your empties.
