Green Beauty With A Purpose: Brands That Give Back

by | Aug 7, 2018

One of the most important things for me when supporting a brand is if they have a deeper mission. Now days, there isn’t a shortage of green beauty options and while it’s amazing that all these companies are using better ingredients for our health and the environment, it’s even more amazing when a brand emerges with a mission to give back. Here is a round-up of clean, cruelty-free green indie brand’s that give back to their communities and causes.

SVATI ORGANICS is deeply committed to empowering girls and breaking the cycle of poverty. For every product purchased they help send a girl to school. Svati has partnered with Homes of Hope Orphanages in India to help educate orphaned girls. The collection was created by Lindsay, a Clinical Aromatherapist, after traveling to Southern India as a volunteer. The experience impacted her life immensely which led to the start of Svati Organics.

BEST FRIEND BEAUTY is a fusion of natural beauty, friendship, and animal welfare. The brand was created by Kimberly, who studied health and wellness at West Chester University, where she learned about the powerful ways simple organic elements affect the body. Along with her education, her meaningful friendships, and close connections with dogs of all kinds were the roots of Best Friend Beauty. 15% of every purchase is donated toward causes supporting animal welfare.

Their mission is two-fold, to work on increasing the awareness of the state of our ocean ecosystems by presenting the world with informative and stunningly beautiful photographs of the earth’s nature wonders alongside with easy to grasp bits of information on the state of the particular ecosystems and the steps that are needed to protect them.

Most products are packaged in glass. Read more about their packaging HERE.

FARADAY FACE pledges to donate 5% of profits every day to THE OCEAN CLEANUP project.  This organization is designing and developing the first feasible method to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.  They are creating a passive system, moving with the currents – just like the plastic – to catch it. The system consists of a 600-meter-long floater that sits at the surface of the water and a tapered 3-meter-deep skirt attached below. The floater provides buoyancy to the system and prevents plastic from flowing over it, while the skirt stops debris from escaping underneath. As the system moves through the water, the plastic continues to collect within the boundaries of the U-shaped system.

Faraday Face is 100% zero waste, plastic-free, palm oil-free, and cruelty-free.

MAMO BOTANICS works with indigenous communities to sustainably wild harvest Cacay nuts and conserve Amazon forests. The company uses a woman-owned recycled-paper boutique for the packaging which gives local women opportunities and a healthy work environment. The paper used in their boxes is collected from all over Bali — from hotels, offices, and households —and is taken to a small factory. It’s then boiled down to a pulp, dried in the sun, and finally folded and decorated by hand. This helps reduce trash on the island.
