Sustainable Clothing on Amazon

by | Mar 20, 2018 | Sustainable Fashion

Sustainable clothing doesn’t have to be crazy expensive and it also doesn’t have to be inaccessible. If you’re a Amazon shopper like me, then you’ll be happy to know there are numerous environmentally responsible brands available on Amazon! Whether you are looking for basics, causal wear, active wear, or even baby clothing you’ll find a brand that creates what you are looking for. See below for a list of sustainable clothing brands (even a vegan shoe company), and at the bottom of this page I list four organic baby clothing options.

Please choose bamboo clothing with caution. I read this interesting ARTICLE on the eco-friendliness of bamboo. Many companies will boast about their use of bamboo as an environmentally friendly option but that doesn’t mean it’s sourced and manufactured responsibly. Keep this in mind when you are shopping for clothing items.

Women’s Lifestyle Clothing

They use Recycled Polyester made out of recycled waterbottes (keeps them out of landfills), it takes up to 50% less energy to produce compared with regular polyester, and it produces 50% less CO2 emissions than regular polyester. Their Lenzing Modal is made from beech tree pulp (the trees are never cut down), it’s CO2 neutral fiber & an incredibly soft fiber.

TEEKI is a USA made brand that creates fashion from recycled water bottles. P.E.T plastic is picked up at community recycling centers and sorted. The plastic is stripped of labels and caps and then washed, crushed and chopped into flakes. From there, the flakes are melted and made in consistently shaped pellets. The pellets undergo a second melting process and are extruded to make fiber. The fiber is crimped, cut, drawn, stretched, then baled. Finally the baled fiber can be processed into fabric for a variety of textile uses and products! Pretty cool, huh?!
